The crown features a classic teardrop shape. The vertically rising side crown is also a distinctive feature, creating a rugged yet dignified impression.

The convex bulge at the top, known as "modori," provides a stable and secure fit. While it may feel slightly stiff at first, it will conform to the shape of your head with continued use.

In modern times, there are only a handful of factories in Japan that specialize in manufacturing men's hats. This hat is produced in one of those valuable factories, primarily using the stiff molding technique with metal dies that was prevalent in 1950s America. Faithfully inheriting the hat-making methods of that era, it boasts a robust finish.

The material used is a high-grade antelope-finished wool, which is finer and more lustrous than regular wool. Antelope refers to rabbit fur felt of the highest quality, where short-napped fur is brushed, and this wool faithfully reproduces the smooth texture of rabbit fur.

The brim is a 7cm flat brim. The bound-edge brim, finished with piping at the tip, gives a luxurious impression.

The ribbon is a special men's ribbon with finely shaped edges (commonly known as "ears"). This luxurious item can only be woven at low speed and requires the handiwork of skilled artisans through many processes. Its beautiful finish creates a distinctive presence that cannot be found in mass-produced items.

A windcatcher, secured with elastic, is attached around the crown. In the past, this was used by buttoning it through the flower hole of a jacket or shirt to prevent the hat from being blown away by the wind or falling off during travel. This windcatcher not only offers practicality but also serves as a subtle accent that tightens the overall look.

The sweatband is made of vegetable-tanned cow leather, which is leather tanned using tannins (astringents) found in plant bark, stems, leaves, and fruits. It is resistant to shrinkage and robust, and with continued use, it will conform to the shape of your head and deepen in color.
