This beret is characterized by its compact silhouette, approximately one size smaller than the D-00022 BERET.

Made from a moderately thick, medium-weight material, it's easy to tilt to the side or back, allowing you to enjoy various styling arrangements.

As a staple item since its launch as the brand's first collection, this beret is crafted from the finest merino wool, known for its fine fibers and soft touch. The material boasts a charming texture with the unique fullness and softness of wool, achieved through a fulling process.

The inner sweatband is elastic, ensuring a comfortable and snug fit on the head, making it exceptionally easy to wear. This design achieves a beautiful silhouette and stable depth, characteristic of Japanese craftsmanship. Furthermore, it offers excellent moisture-wicking and heat retention properties, and its material is sustainable, returning to the earth.

The history of the beret is ancient, believed to originate from close-fitting head coverings called "pileus" worn in ancient Greece and Rome. Its current form developed around the 15th to 16th centuries, when the "biretta" worn by Catholic clergy spread to the Basque region near the border of France and Spain, becoming popular among farmers. In the 19th century, Napoleon III called it the "Basque Beret," leading to its global dissemination.

In the early 20th century, the French Alpine military adopted it as a military cap, and during World War II, Kangol berets were adopted as military caps by the British army. It gained further popularity through its use by the heroic general Bernard Montgomery. Since then, it has been adopted by armies worldwide, including the American Green Berets.

In France, prominent artists like Picasso and Rodin were fond of it, and in Japan, influenced by artists who studied in Paris, painters and literary figures favored wearing it from the early Showa period. Today, it is cherished as a versatile fashion item, regardless of gender or age.
